Description:

Grafted Panama Red Passionfruit vine allows gardeners in the cooler, southern parts of Australia to nurture a slice of the tropics in their own backyard. The vines hardy rootstock is highly resistant to frost, disease, pests and temperature extremes, making it an ideal plant for sub-tropical and temperate regions.

The Nellie Kelly Grafted Panama Red Passionfruit vine is ideal as a natural screen or for covering unsightly fences or sheds. Its lush green foliage covers up to 8 square metres a year and its super large, red, soft-skinned fruit has juicy, aromatic pulp that is milder than the tangy black passionfruit. Expect around 100 to 150 pieces of fruit a season.

More About this product

Plant Passionfruit in a sunny, well-drained area and support them on wires or strong trellis - When establishing, wind growth down along the bottom wires in a horizontal format - this wil give you a wide plant that grows along and then allow it to grow upward. You'll acheive a much bigger spread and plant and fruiting opportunties.

Expect flowers from spring with fruit from summer until autumn.

Passionfruit are very greedy and need a lot of highly nitrogenous fertiliser...blood and bone, chicken manure (rotted), a rich composted soil

Our Troforte is an excellent choice if you want healthy vigourous plants and buckets of fruit...feed - feed - feed! Water and sunshine

Our Passionfruit (except the banana Passionfruit) are grafted and with any  grafted plant it is vitally important to remove any growth below the graft,  including
suckers, using a sharp knife or blade, to remove any lower growth around the soil area under the graft point.
